Pittsburgh + Zooey Deschanel = Love

what does pittsburgh and zooey deschanel have in common? not much actually. i just wanted to post a picture of her. [girl crush, it happens.]

but there is a great article in today’s pittsburgh post-gazette that gives a shout out to ms. deschanel in the beginning for her gluten-free, soy-free, vegan lifestyle.

it also talks about vegetarian and vegan options in restaurants and how lackluster and meat-centric most places are. here’s a little nugget from the article:

Surveying the local restaurants that treat vegetarian options with respect and enthusiasm (including the area’s handful of vegetarian restaurants), it’s hard not to notice that these restaurants are also some of the most successful in the city. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

wonder if they realize that catering to those that have food allergies and intolerances would be the same sort of gold mine?! a girl can wish, can’t she?

    I love her too! Even more so, now that I know this tidbit of information.

    Excellent article too…It amazes me how many restaurants I go to only offer a salad as the vegetarian option–and even then, I usually have to ask to have the meat removed.
