Happy Birthday Momster!
Posted on | September 26, 2009 | 5 Comments

the momster’s [aka the hubster's mama] birthday was on thursday, so we had the family over for dinner. we wanted to make something special for everyone, particularly since they don’t get a home cooked vegetarian meal often.
the hubster picked the menu for the evening: butternut squash risotto with fresh asparagus. said he was inspired by a stint of watching the food network.
he also picked up a few tasty treats from the oakmont bakery. definitely not something for the lactose intolerant, but amazing nonetheless. i was definitely a little jealous that they got to enjoy such tasty treats. the diary-free sugar cookies i had just didn’t seem to…er…compete.
we had a fantabulous time with everyone. enjoyed some organic red wine compliments of the unc-ster, heard some great family stories, and stuffed ourselves to the brim. can’t wait to do it again!

Have you tried Gluutony in Squirell Hill? They have gluten free/dairy free brownies that (to paraphrase my own hubster) I would push my grandmother down a flight of stairs for.
Ciao!

i used to love gluutony.
i can’t really eat their items any more because of my food intolerances. they use potato flour instead of wheat flour to make them gluten-free.
